Flemings Mayfair London

Founded in 1851 by Robert Fleming during the Great Exhibition, it is one of the few remaining family-run hotels in the City of London

London is a city with more than two thousand years of history. Strategically located on the banks of the River Thames and close to the sea, the city was founded by the Romans almost two millennia ago. Its ancient core, the City of London, still retains its medieval mile-square layout, while the surrounding area, with its many factories and warehouses with their chimneys and brick facades, bears witness to the great Industrial Revolution that England witnessed in the second half of the 18th century.

Today it is a global city, one of the nerve centres of the arts, commerce and fashion, and as such, it is home to more than forty different cultures.

In the heart of London, next to Green Park and Piccadilly, a stone’s throw from Buckingham Palace and Soho, is the charming Flemings Mayfair Hotel. Founded in 1851 by Robert Fleming during the Great Exhibition, it is one of the few remaining family-run hotels in the City of London and houses 129 rooms and suites, the Ormer Mayfair restaurant and Manetta’s bar, as well as three meeting and event spaces.

With thirteen townhouses dating back to 1734, all the décor, with attention to detail, navigates between modern Art Deco and Georgian elegance with its chandeliers, velvets, mirrors and natural flowers, creating a welcoming ambience.

The friendly and dedicated hotel staff will make you feel at home and offer all the help you need to enjoy the city like never before.

During our stay, we were able to stay in one of the hotel’s suites. Spacious and well-equipped, it had multiple spaces and a large marble bathroom with a large shower and designer bathtub, ideal to end the day relaxing.

Warm and cosy due to its combination of colours and materials, it also has a small private terrace, where we could have a cup of tea and disconnect from the hustle and bustle of the city.

We had the great opportunity to experience one of the most impressive gastronomic experiences the city has to offer: the grand tasting menu by chef Sofian Msetfi at Ormer Mayfair restaurant.

Oysters, game birds or the best desserts, all accompanied with the most select wines from South Macedonia and Chile under the recommendations of the sommelier, were some of the delicacies we were able to taste with an exquisite and personalised attention from the whole team of the restaurant.

Whether for work or leisure, alone or accompanied, motivated by art, history, business or simply shopping; it is always stimulating to visit London and be intoxicated by its smells, narrow streets and its multicultural cosmopolitan atmosphere and a perfect place to stay is Flemings Mayfair Hotel.
